“We commemorate the memory of our compatriots, who have become victims of the Armenians’ pogroms committed in 1990, and it is one of the most painful pages of our history. Unfortunately, the Soviet authorities and the Soviet Azerbaijan authorities of that time also did not make sufficient effort to investigate and punish the pogrom-makers,” Sargis Khandanyan said. According to him, the pogroms committed under the silence of the international community were not studied even by the same community and did not receive political assessment and condemnation, which became an occasion that the neighbouring country would continue the same policy also later on.
