On the 111th Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide
As Armenians worldwide commemorate the 111th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, we honor the memory of the 1.5 million Armenians who were systematically deported, dispossessed, and exterminated by the Ottoman Empire and the Turkish Republic between 1915 and 1922. We remember the lives lost, the communities destroyed, and the survivors who rebuilt Armenian life from the ruins of genocide.
April 24 is a solemn day of remembrance, truth, and responsibility. As descendants of survivors, we carry a sacred duty to preserve the memory of our martyrs, defend historical truth, and ensure that the Armenian Genocide is never denied, distorted, or forgotten.
For more than a century, denial has deepened injustice and encouraged impunity. Today, that same pattern is reflected in Azerbaijan’s aggression against Armenians, the ethnic cleansing of Artsakh, the unlawful detention of Armenian hostages, and the continued occupation of Armenia’s sovereign territory.

The Armenian Council of America calls on the United States government not only to fully and properly acknowledge the Armenian Genocide, but also to act against present-day injustices by demanding the release of all Armenian hostages held by the Azerbaijani dictatorship, providing humanitarian assistance to displaced Artsakh Armenians, sanctioning Azerbaijani officials responsible for war crimes and ethnic cleansing, and standing firmly in support of Armenia’s sovereignty, democracy, and security.
Our responsibility also begins within our own community. We must educate, organize, preserve our language and culture, strengthen ties across the Armenian nation, and instill pride and purpose in future generations.
On this solemn anniversary, we reaffirm our commitment to truth over denial, justice over impunity, and survival over erasure.
