The meeting also addressed a range of issues related to the widespread use of electric scooters in Yerevan and the regions of Armenia. In this context, attention was given to practical issues arising from their use and operation by minors, traffic management, and speed restrictions.
Particular attention was also paid to ensuring the rights of persons with disabilities in the context of the use and parking of electric scooters.
At the same time, mechanisms for verifying the age of electric scooter users and ensuring compliance with the established age requirements were discussed. From the perspective of ensuring the best interests of the child, Council members also expressed concern regarding minors carrying out delivery work using electric scooters, emphasizing the importance of properly safeguarding children’s labor rights in this context.
The Human Rights Defender attaches importance to the activities of the Council as an important platform for making the voices of children and young people heard, presenting their views and proposals, as well as ensuring their active participation in public discussions.
The activities of the Council are also important in terms of bringing issues raised by children onto the public agenda.
