The New Chairman of the Social Democrat Hunchakian Party (SDHP) Will Not Be Recognized, If Facts Do Not Correspond to the Reality

February 22,2012 17:34

Presenting amendments in the system of notary public, deputy minister of justice Aram Orbelyan who convened a press conference at the ArmenPress press hall talked also about reregistering the Social Democrat Hunchakian Party in the state register. Let us mention that SDHP leader Lyudmila Sargsyan and SDHP representative Gurgen Yeghiazaryan stated recently that the party had been reregistered, but in the name of another chairman Gevorg Perkuperkyan, which in Ms. Sargsyan’s opinion, was a deliberate step taken against the opposition in the run-up to the election.

In the deputy minister’s words, “If we look into the international practice there are various names like that in the international practice too. And accordingly registration of parties, the names of which slightly differ from each other, but at the same time have something in common cannot be considered as a restriction. In order that it is clearer, there is the Republican Party of Armenia and there is the Republic Party and no one can say that people mix them up. According to the data, in reality a congress took place, during which a new chairman was elected and documents were brought to register and the registration took place, since the whole package of documents was in hand at the register, there were no mistakes, the registration was conducted. At the same time the former chairman has filed a complaint. An investigation was launched and they will find out the truth. If the facts are real and correspond to the reality, the registration was legal, if not, the administrative decision on the registration will be void and the former chairman will be restored.”
