Today Levon Zurabyan, the Armenian National Congress (ANC) coordinator, gave a strange answer at the joint staff, in response to our manifold questions, which were related to the election bribe handed out by the PAP. In particular, the question was the following – how the ANC cooperated with the PAP in the joint staff for the sake of a free and fair election, since the election bribe handed out by that party was also against the ANC candidates. Zurabyan explained, “If the government had been at the proper level, if the state bodies performed their
functions properly, they had had a clear order that any election bribe should be ruled out – neither the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), nor the PAP, nor any other party would have been able to hand out election bribe, so the criminal regime, which has established permissiveness, is responsible for all this total, massive use of election bribery. They ordered at the state level a freedom of election bribery. In this situation, to blame parties is absurd. We don’t struggle against parties, we struggle against the whole state apparatus. The state, Serzh Sargsyan’s regime, bears the whole responsibility for the total election fraud in the country.” www.aravot.am inquired from another member of the joint staff, Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) Supreme Body representative Armen Rustamyan, whether he also thought that if the Republican Party handed out election bribe to such a huge extent, then one could forgive the PAP. He answered, “I don’t think any election bribe is forgivable. It doesn’t matter who hands it out.”
