June 01,2012 15:00

On the morning of June 1, in the village of  Nerkin Karmiraghbyur, Berd district, Tavush region, as a result of the shooting from the Azerbaijani positions Vachik Melkumyan born in 1960 was injured in the right leg. Presently, his health condition is normal; Vachik is being treated in the military hospital of Berd town. According to Manvel Kamendatyan, the village headman of Nerkin Karmiraghbyur, Vachik was injured, when he was cultivating his vineyard in the border area, behind the winery of Aygepar. Let me remind that yesterday, May 31, another observation of the Armenian-Azerbaijani borderline was carried out by the office of the OSCE incumbent president’s personal representative, in which Andrzej Kasprzyk, the personal representative of the OSCE incumbent president, participated.

M. Kamendatyan said that he was present at that observation. According to him, their village is completely targeted by the Azerbaijanis – Azerbaijanis don’t shy away from shooting at the school and the kindergarten of the village. The village headman said that because of the Azerbaijanis’ shooting villagers were afraid to cultivate their land, some people had left their land uncultivated, some people were compelled to cut down the trees. The village headman assured, however, that, in his words, “patriots” of bordering Nerkin Karmiraghbyur weren’t going to leave the village.
