Yesterday the Police of the Republic of Armenia informed www.aravot.am that Chief of Police of the Republic of Armenia, Lieutenant General Vladimir Gasparyan had ordered to launch an internal investigation into the incident related to Colonel Karush Tovmasyan, the head of the regional unit of the Main Investigation Department, Police of the Republic of Armenia. The reason was the article under the heading Are the Shots in Gyumri Because of a Cook? published on website www.aravot.am, in which, in response to a question whether the news that Karush Tovmasyan’s son-in-law had shot at the Gyumri City Council member corresponded to the reality, Karush Tovmasyan allowed himself to humiliate the work of journalist.
The Police of the Republic of Armenia informed us that the Chief of Police was very consistent regarding such issues and an internal investigation had been launched, since the Shirak official had violated the police code of ethics.
