Political scientist Yervand Bozoyan expressed an idea during a press conference today that the Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) would announce its own candidate for the presidential election and that candidate would be Gagik Tsarukyan who would become our Bidzina Ivanishvili.
Later on, during a conversation with Aravot, Mr. Bozoyan said that the smartest and most intellectual persons didn’t always become the president and as an example he mentioned Sarkozy, Bush, “semi-drunkard” Yeltsin, “Often the circumstances are more important than the person’s merits.” He even noted that Oskanian might become a “national hero” as a result of the persecution of him started by the government and be the candidate of the Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) instead of Tsarukyan.
In response to our question whether he thought that the society would forgive Oskanian for his role in the events of March 1, Mr. Bozoyan said that there was no one who was innocent and had no past – Ter-Petrossian was constantly reminded about 1995-96, Kocharyan about March 1 and other things.
As for why Tsarukyan doesn’t talk about the persecution of Oskanian personally, Mr. Bozoyan explains it with levels. According to him, since Serzh Sargsyan keeps silent about this issue and hasn’t participated in it in any way, Tsarukyan will also keep silent and will not talk; once Serzh Sargsyan talks, he will talk. However, he explains the probability of Kocharyan’s talking not with levels, but from the human perspective, “Oskanian worked with Kocharyan for 10 years and it will be wrong, if he doesn’t speak.”

In response to Aravot’s observation that some analysts claimed that Tsarukyan would never speak of that, since they would start tax persecution of him, particularly given the fact that Mr. Tsarukyan’s, to put it mildly, not being flawless in terms of taxes had been talked about for many years, Mr. Bozoyan said that those claims had been spread and employed by Baghramyan 26.
Let us just remind that the newspapers perceived as the most oppositional ones have written about the PAP leader’s unfulfilled tax obligations for many years.
