He Sees the Truth in Aliyev’s Statement About Armenia

November 23,2012 11:10

“The political and economic isolation of Armenia yields results, and Azerbaijan will continue deepening that isolation,” Aram Karapetyan, the leader of the New Times Party, sees the truth in this statement of Ilham Aliyev, the President of Azerbaijan. “It is the truth, no matter what everyone says, it is really the case. As far as I know, Azerbaijan promises to give large sums of money to Georgia in secret negotiations, if the Abkhazia railroad is not opened. Azerbaijan is engaged in that work,” Mr. Karapetyan said to www.aravot.am.

Talking about I. Aliyev’s another statement that Azerbaijan became more and more powerful year by year, whereas Armenia got weaker every year and deteriorated, Mr. Karapetyan didn’t agree: “There is no growth in Azerbaijan, problems with oil resources gradually increase. His very clan has found itself in a rather difficult geopolitical condition, and that is because of economic problems. Azerbaijan’s relations with the Russian and Iranian elites are tense, one shouldn’t focus on their embracing, hugging. Azerbaijan has and will have a lot of problems, particularly with regard to oil resources. On the one hand, oil is good, on the other, it is a headache, if the state doesn’t have enough armed forces to maintain them. As far as I know, Azerbaijan is currently engaged in negotiations, in order that the NATO peacekeepers entered their territory not on a peacekeeping mission, but otherwise to maintain their gas and oil pipelines. It is clear that Azerbaijan is presently afraid of war, given developments concerning not only Armenia, but also Iran. Therefore, I would advise Aliyev to consider the processes going on in their country to be normal too. One cannot solve a problem with war; money is of little importance in war.”
