“Raffi Hovhannisyan Behaved Like a Drunk,” Aram Harutyunyan Says

April 12,2013 10:46

Commenting on the events of April 9 and talking about the incident between Armen Martirosyan and police officers, Aram Harutyunyan, the leader of the National Accord Party, described police officers’ behavior as unacceptable. “It is in line with neither humanity, nor the law.”

As for Raffi Hovhannisyan, according to Harutyunyan, his fellow party members are in trouble, because they have to explain the party leader’s moves. “It is irresponsible to treat the people like children or not to respect them,” Harutyunyan thinks.

At a press conference that took place at the Pastark (argument) club the other day, the National Accord Party leader stated that only drunks behaved like that, and he suspected that Raffi Hovhannisyan had been drunk on April 9.

During a conversation with us, he stated regarding this: “It would be better, if he was drunk, because he behaved like a drunk; he looked like one. A sober man doesn’t speak like that, and what he said was like a toast. He became intoxicated by either the votes he had won or something else, because I would like to believe that he doesn’t speak like that when he is sober.” And with regard to Raffi Hovhannisyan’s Moscow visit, Harutyunyan said: “Commenting on Raffi Hovhannisyan’s actions is a very thankless thing; he himself said at the latest rally that he had woken up in the morning and had asked himself what he was going to say. Now I don’t know whether he asked himself that question when he woke up this morning or not. However, it is not serious when a candidate, who won, in his or many people’s opinion, says that he goes to talk with Putin. No Armenian politician has said something like that; so it turns out that Putin is our papa, and it turns out that the problems with Obama are settled, now he goes to talk with Putin. The only thing that Raffi Hovhannisyan did was the swearing-in; he said that Serzh Sargsyan would swear in over his dead body. Basically he became a political corpse. Perhaps the brightest character in all that tragedy was Vova Gasparyan who turned from a general into a Catholicos, his humor sufficed, and he was able to suppress a chortle.”
