Vardan Bostanjyan about selling of Vorotan HPP: “It is enough to make a cat laugh.”

February 10,2014 13:14

In the conversation with Aravot.am, the economist Vardan Bostanjyan, referring to the Justice Minister’s statement at the National Assembly, which said that Vorotan HPP was sold not by the Government of Armenia but the “Vorotan” CJSC, and also referring to the Energy and Natural Resources Minister Armen Movsisyan’s explanation, which said that the Government of Armenia has sold it because Vorotan HPP is already 40 years old, and major capital investments are needed for such cascades, which is not available. In response to our question of whether one day the nuclear power plant would also make a sole decision to sell itself like this, Vardan Bostanjyan answered as follows, “One can say that under such ruling nothing is impossible, and everything can be sold. It is obvious that on hearing it, it’s enough to make a cat laugh, since Vorotan HPP was sold by a non-existent someone. Isn’t it clear how it was done? The nuclear power plants will be sold, as well as the whole Republic of Armenia. It is not that Armen Movsisyan was unaware of anything; he just said what is convenient to him. All transactions are done in secret.”
