To Robert Kocharyan. “No, my boy, this growth means nothing to me; they buy weapons and shoot at us.”

May 26,2014 18:12

Recently, the second President Robert Kocharyan is periodically reminding of himself in his interviews, which is interpreted as Kocharyan’s imminent return. Former member of the ANC, Leader of the Christian-Democratic Renaissance party, Sos Gimishyan, does not see any danger. “First, he is not a political figure; he does not have such grace. For example, I do not have the grace to be a prime minister, an executive body. I find that I have the grace to be in the legislative body. Every person should mind its own business. He is not and has not been a political figure because he is not the type. His only lever in policy is finances, nothing else. No idea, no soul. With what should he come to the public? He should say something, shouldn’t he?” said Mr. Gimishyan in a conversation with Aravot.am. To our observation that Robert Kocharyan regularly emphasizes that there was an economic growth during his tenure, Sos Gimishyan objected, “There has been an economic growth, 90 per cent was gone to their pockets. What is the goal of the economic growth? For the people to live well, don’t they? We can have economic growth. It will be an end in itself, if all goes to the oligarchs’ pockets. In that case, why do I need this economic growth whether it is there or not? On the contrary, these criminals are becoming wealthy, buying weapons, and shooting at us. In other words, I do not need this economic growth; it causes harm to me and becomes a weapon. I am bribed, I am fabricated, I am brought to knees, they form bashibazouk army, take aim at my head, saying to vote, or threaten by the child in the army, and by grandchildren in the kindergarten. This is it. Is the economic growth an end in itself? It is just a mean to strengthen the country, and make people live well. And it seems to him that if there is economic growth, then it is fine. No, my boy, if there is economic growth and 70 percent of the budget is looted, 75 percent of entries, and 70 percent of expenditures, then such economic growth gives nothing to me. I do not feel good of it, my child is not provided, and the Customs is not working well. Why do I need it? I do not need him and his economic growth.”
