“What is going on I do not associate it with the actions of “Sasna Tsrer” guys at all” – so responded Artak Davtyan, an RPA faction MP, Chairman of the RA NA Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Youth and Sports, in response to the question of Aravot.am whether he agrees with the claims that the resignation of the government is the result of the actions of “Sasna Tsrer” guys. Note that Vice-President of the “Heritage” party, Armen Martirosyan, had announced, “An action took place as a result of our brothers “Sasna Tsrer”, I mean the act of rebellion, which was supported by the society, and in fact, the political claims that we were formulating over the years, the society totally accepted it by the reformulation of “Sasna Tsrer”. This led to the government resignation.”
To our observation that Artak Davtyan was once among those who were criticizing the actions of “Sasna Tsrer”, now whether he has not changed his approach given the public sentiments, Mr. Davtyan replied, “Certainly, this is not a way, it is a non-reasonable deed as the matter is entirely in the legal frame, in the near future we will witness a legal assessment. And those who think that what is going on now is a result of the actions of the armed group, they are mistaken.” Artak Davtyan insisted that the current developments are classified among the amendments following the constitutional referendum, also driven by the speech of RA President Serzh Sargsyan on 12 February. According to Artak Davtyan, the April war and the “Sasna Tsrer” actions slowed what was to happen because according to the lawmaker, all this should have happened earlier.
We asked whether he had specific information that the government resignation was planned earlier, Mr. Davtyan replied, “There is no need to have specific information, simply on February, the President said and it was also said in December that a new reality is going to happen. But at that time, people being captive to the thought were saying different things, they were insisting that all this is done to extend the government, they had brought up a thought in their mind by becoming the captive of it, now they do not want to be released from this captivity again. Instead of the thought to be captive, they become captive to the thought. Whereas, it was very clear that the amendments driven by the constitutional amendments would be significant for each citizen.”
The fact that the actions of “Sasna Tsrer” are not associated with the government’s resignation, Mr. Davtyan tried to prove the following fact, “Let us think for a moment. After July 31, on August 1, the RA President delivers a speech, on August 2, he had to make this move. If it were caused by the actions of “Sasna Tsrer”, then these changes should have happened on August 2.” Artak Davtyan continues arguing that what “Sasna Tsrer” guys did was not a reasonable move, and ensures that even if what they wanted happened, anyway, the matter should have been resolved in the legal frame.
