Self-filtered RPA muddy waters

January 31,2017 09:34

Who will catch what fish in these waters

“I think that Serzh Sargsyan has received a bad mark from geography subject or has cut classes.  It is a question for me how he has got a graduation certificate,” said Chairman of Gyumri Journalists’ Club “Asparez”, Levon Barseghyan, to Aravot, referring to Serzh Sargsyan-Hovik Abrahamyan natural sciences conflict.  Serzh Sargsyan said at the RPA board session, “The attempts of some to argue that there is an alleged exodus from the Republican Party is simply ludicrous. What can I say? You know all too well that it’s absurd. In recent months, over 11000 people joined our Party. I would like to respond to this in an allegoric way: you see, major rivers throughout their course move forward, give life, give bread and water, while small springs, which come out the main river and do not come back to it shortly, dry out and disappear. This is the law of nature and nobody can defy the laws of nature; we may try to regulate, control but in the end, it will be that way.”  Hovik Abrahamyan replied, “Let’s not forget also that the major rivers are nothing but a unification of selfless streams.  But at some point, the mixture waters of the technological factory running to the river will pollute the entire main spring and all will go waste.  Maybe the streams cut off until then but still carrying the smell of their own soil will manage to give life to one or two settlements until being disappeared.”  RPA Spokesperson Eduard Sharmazanov had sent a friendly admonition to the former prime minister, “I do not think that speaking with RPA President with hints is gainful.”

Actually, Levon Barseghyan considers the fact that the country is in this “disgusting situation” horrible. The first face of the country, the once second and third faces are sitting and talking like “chitchat”.  The President also made a remarkable statement at the RPA Board session, saying that he does not welcome the return of Gagik Tsarukyan to the political field.  Thus, the President, in fact, made his own teammates look in a rather awkward situation who hurried to applaud the return of Gagik Tsarukyan.  Incidentally, RPA re-elected vice-chairman Armen Ashotyan seemed to in the most inconvenient situation is this sense who had voiced the sharpest criticism against Gagik Tsarukyan by adding it with insults and later, with the same enthusiasm, applauded Gagik Tsarukyan’s return.

RPA MP Mkrtich Minasyan does not agree that Serzh Sargsyan has made his own teammates appear in an awkward situation.  Mkrtich Minasyan had also said praising words about the return of Gagik Tsarukyan, “The President said that it is absurd that Tsarukyan is returning with his consent and approval and it is the government “project”.”  RPA MP thinks that the main message which the President addressed to his teammates during the session was the following. “We should not overestimate our actions.  Each one has done as much as he could do for the country, and he is thankful.  People should not fall into euphoria and highly appreciate their activities, performed work and services than they really are.”

To the clarification of whether the President was referring to former Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan and former Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan, Mkrtich Minasyan replied, “It referred to all of us.  Those who think that they deserve more than are appraised today, the President said he is thankful but a person should not overestimate what he does and his efforts.”  Have RPA members not tried to ask Serzh Sargsyan why Hovik Abrahamyan abandoned RPA as the latter has not mentioned anything about it?  “No such conversation was carried out, the rest you have heard what he has said.  In fact, he has said indirectly…,” said our interlocutor referring to the President’s natural sciences comparison.

The President also sent one more message referring to the responsibility of the power and the functionaries to the people.  As to what legal consequences will the President’s statement have for the self-filtered RPA, we can assume from the experience of previous promises and statements, none.  Recently, Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan had talked about the change of elite in Armenia.  Mkrtich Minasyan is not concerned.  He believes that it implies to individual cases and individual people who have not displayed them rightly.
