As reported earlier, during the presentation of the election campaign program by the “Yelk” alliance, it was also pointed out that the alliance promised to take measures to restore the military balance between Armenia and Azerbaijan, while with regard to the conflict settlement, the condition to discuss any concession to recognize the self-determination right of the Artsakh people is the Azerbaijan’s willingness. In an interview with Aravot.am, the leader of the “Republic” party constituting a part of the alliance, Aram Sargsyan, detailed what the alliance is suggesting, particularly for the restoration of the military balance between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
“We have had more than 6 thousand victims and 11000 injured during the conflict… I think everybody should pay for the peace in the region and not only Armenians. I think we cannot agree to the concessions in exchange for peace. And in exchange for the status, when there are talks about it, we are ready to negotiate on the status,” said Aram Sargsyan for the beginning. Regarding the restoration of the military balance between Armenia and Azerbaijan, he noted that besides the CSTO partner countries, they will try to find new security systems in terms of the type of weapons and the means of using them, “And as what means; certainly, the budget. The army funds are not possible by taking 1000 drams from the pocket of each person. We are going to present a clear economic policy.”
