June 16,2018 17:45

The meeting of the Prime Minister of Armenia and the President of Azerbaijan taken place in Moscow was not in the format of negotiations, informed the Spokeswoman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, Maria Zakharova.

Let us remind you that earlier the Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan had informed on his “Facebook” live stream that the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin had introduced him to Ilham Aliyev.

“I think the formats should not be confused: intercourse of the heads of state exists which assumes both multilateral and bilateral intercourse. And there is an issue which has its format of resolution,” said Zakharova.

According to her, the creation of favorable atmosphere only promotes the progress of  negotiation process and is an important guarantee of the conflict settlement. “However, I want to mention that they are different formats,” emphasized Zakharova.

Referring to the resolution of Artsakh Conflict, Zakharova said: “Moscow does everything at maximum for the resolution of Nagorno-Karabakh issue.”

“Why? You know very well. First and foremost, we wish for the two peoples eventually resolve that bloody issue, and secondly, inasmuch as we want to develop Armenia’s relations with Azerbaijan and for Armenia and Azerbaijan to develop their relations. It seems to me that both our and your task is to bring the moment of settlement closer and not draw it farther,” replied Zakharova to the provocative question of the journalist from “Trend” Azerbaijani news agency.
