Chairman of the State Forest Committee Mikayel Manukyan will be the Armenian Revolutionary Federation’s (ARF) candidate for mayor in the upcoming Yerevan city council elections on September 23rd.
After being the Chairman of the ARF Supreme Body for several years, he was also a member of parliament.
When he was younger, he joined the Armenian Army and fought during the Artsakh war, and then he was obviously falsely accused of a crime during the years when members of the ARF were heavily persecuted. He was jailed but then released later on.
Manukyan was actively involved in the life of the political party, including arranging the activities of divisions of the ARF based in Armenia.
After being appointed Chairman of the State Forest Committee, Mikayel Manukyan began an active fight against mass tree cuttings, and many people faced criminal charges.
