Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan answered people’s questions in a Facebook live stream. He answered a question regarding the mines at Amulsar. Pashinyan said that an environmental protection group conducted examinations around Amulsar, which resulted in making it possible to come up with an intermediate conclusion.
There have been protests going on for over a month against mining at Amulsar. Protestors have closed the road leading to the mines.
Pashinyan, regarding the unfair usage of mines, said that it is mandatory to conduct an international investigation before coming up with a final conclusion.
The prime minister said that there has been a criminal case opened regarding mining at Amulsar, and that the investigative committee needs to start an investigation. “It’s important that that is organized by an international organization so that the results are acceptable for both Armenia and for the international community.”
According to the prime minister, the government wants to get rid of all doubts regarding this issue- both positive and negative- and to only come up with a decision based on the results of an investigation. “At the moment, there are no undeniable facts. There have been several violations and worries, but we need facts, and the process of obtaining facts continues.”
The government’s decisions, as the prime minister announced, can only be based off of undeniable facts.
