“The court is carrying out orders from the Special Investigative Service and is lengthening Manvel Grigoryan’s imprisonment. Through keeping Manvel Grigoryan in such conditions, he is being tortured, and the SIS and General Prosecutor are responsible for this. If the decision does not change, then I view this as a political decision to keep him prisoner and let him die slowly. This is selective justice,” Manvel Grigoryan’s lawyer Levon Baghdasaryan told reporters.
Manvel Grigoryan’s sentence was increased by two months. He is accused of illegally possessing weapons and for stealing large amounts of property.
Regarding Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s latest announcement that there are no facts to prove that Grigoryan’s state of health has to do with him being imprisoned and that there has not been an examination conducted by a court doctor, Levon Barseghyan said, “He has dozens of sicknesses, which has been proven by court doctors’ examinations carried out by the appropriate body.”
Then, Levon Barseghyan expressed his belief that it is impossible for Manvel Grigoryan to be an obstacle and to avoid investigation as a result of being freed.
The lawyer also informed that they will file a complaint against the court’s decision to increase Manvel Grigoryan’s sentence, but Grigoryan does not intend to appeal to the European Court of Human Rights after the internal courts are finished. “He does not think that it is necessary to file against his state.”
