November 11,2019 18:16

Protests continue in front of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sport demanding the resignation of Minister Arayik Harutyunyan. The President of the central Armenian Revolutionary Federation’s Armenian Youth Federation, Argishti Gevorgyan, told reporters that protests will continue over the next few days and youth will also remain in front of the ministry in the evening. He also said that marches are taking place to spread information, which will also take place again over the next few days.

Upon the observation that the minister is prepared to meet and discuss all issues with the youth, Argishti Gevorgyan said, “Before the minister offered to speak with us, he said something different. He called people who were protesting against him ‘unruly.’ I will not speak about Mr. Harutyunyan’s upbringing because it is obvious for everyone what kind of upbringing he had. We want the minister to resign and we will continue our protests until he does so.” He added that it is no longer the ARF-AYF demanding this, but instead all students and youth because students from different universities have also joined in the protests.

Gevorgyan also spoke about fake pages that attack and blackmail protesters, but he emphasized that this will not prevent the AYF from fighting. “The Prime Minister met with us and said that he does not agree with our perspective. That is his perspective. He will naturally defend a member of his team and someone who marched with him. But nothing has changed for us. We stand strong with our demand.”
