Hovik Aghazaryan explains how Levon Ter-Petrossian was evil and rigged elections in 1996: ‘I was a direct participant in those events’

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan visited with the Armenian community of Milan at the St. Forty Martyrs’ Church. Speaking about demands for his resignation, he said that a leader who does not have the trust of his people and country is an evil for their country, just as how all the leaders of Armenia since 1996 have been evils, since they took control of the government without the people’s trust and tried to keep that authority.

The Armenian National Congress gave a firm response, saying that it seemed like Pashinyan was fighting for an evil to come to power 12 years ago and 5 years ago more actively than anyone else.

In an interview with Aravot Daily, My Step deputy Hovik Aghazaryan confirmed Nikol Pashinyan’s statement while presenting facts on how votes were rigged in favor of Levon Ter-Petrossian in 1996. According to Aghazaryan, the leaders of Armenia since 1996 were, indeed, evil. “I was a direct participant in those events and I saw how those elections were carried out. The Central Electoral Commission was not releasing official data for 8-10 days, and that was supposed to be released within 2 days. They were unable to organize the data in such a way that would allow the distribution of votes to be in favor of Levon Ter-Petrossian. At that time, the Dashnaks made up the opposition, and it seemed that there were reports from approximately 900 polling stations. And impossible data was presented from places where there were no reports. There had been voting districts where 200 percent of the voters participated. For example, even in places where Vazgen Manukyan had officially won and where the majority of the residents have the same mentality, 66 percent of the residents came to vote, 70 percent of whom voted for Vazgen Manukyan, and the other 30 percent voted for Levon Ter-Petrossian. And in places where we hadn’t received reports, 100 percent of the voters participated and only 1 or 2 of them voted for Vazgen Manukyan. That seems very unlikely. All of these negative phenomena have followed us since recent times and they were put into place at that time. Those elections left very negative roots.”

  1. Systemic illegal government election fraud for 20 years plunged the population into hopelessness as they lost control of their destiny to corrupt mafia forces – many of whom roam free today. They all must be transparently tried and jailed to assure they never steal elections and Armenia’s future again!
