“Very soon, we will have an unavoidable rise in energy carrier prices. The price of gas might not increase, but electricity definitely will. If we received 300 megawatts of electricity from Artsakh’s hydroelectric power stations, 70-80 percent of those power stations have now been transferred to Azerbaijan. Now, we must provide that electricity. The price of electricity from hydroelectric power stations was 8 AMD, but now we must obtain it from gas, which will be 25-30 AMD. Prices will also rise as reflected by the exchange rate from AMD to USD. What are we supposed to do? Spend more and sell it for less? At whose expense? The worst dream that one can imagine is better than this nightmare. This is a nightmare for us,” former Republican Party deputy and former Minister of the Environment Vardan Ayvazyan said during a press conference at the Hayeli press club.
As a solution, he suggested that we unite and get rid of the separation between whites and blacks. “This political team does not have a future. The people need to be united. This is enough, we can’t do it. Half the people in your house are on the black side, and the other half are on the white side. We are on the road to collapse, and the most dangerous thing is that collapse happens faster in free fall, and that is the speed at which we are falling. If you think deeply about it, you will go crazy. Twenty to thirty-thousand people were supposed to work for this country. An entire young generation became handicapped. They were supposed to work for this country for 50 years. No matter whom you talk to… I tried to help in every way. I provided for families in Artsakh. People come here and say that they can’t sleep at night. Have you spoken to people who returned? They’ve gone crazy. And after all of that, we’ve lost our dignity.”
Vardan Ayvazyan accepted that they are also to blame for the current situation. “We created a constitution without any solutions for a crisis. We left the solution up to the morality of the Prime Minister.”
He said that we must stop because no matter whom you look at, serious accusations are being made: usurpation of power, assassination attempts. “It is similar to breaking the rules of the road.”
When asked if it is possible to reach any success through these protests by the opposition as Pashinyan said that the people do not demand his resignation, and that this is an elite revolt, Vardan Ayazyan responded that the moving force and the thinks are the elite. “Did only idiots remain at the time for them to hold a revolution? Were those who supported and carried out a revolution idiots? When we move on from Facebook wars and verbal bait to concrete actions… people are starving, people are suffering, they lost their sons, they want concrete actions. Everyone besides the government is working on the return of prisoners. Why am I paying taxes? So that you can sit on those soft chairs? Someone who only thinks about verbal bait is saying that it won’t be this way… should village leaders or Russians defend our borders? If Russians are supposed to defend it, let’s become a part of Russia. We can’t just sit here and talk.”
