9 new sirens were installed, 42 were repaired in Ararat province. The warning of the population was carried out on a local basis. According to estimates, 142 electricity sirens were needed, 87 of which were available to provide sound coverage throughout the region. It was planned to increase the number of electricity sirens as a result of cooperation with local self-government bodies in 2021. Head of the Ararat Regional Rescue Department reported about this during the session held in the regional administration, summing up the implemented activities last year.
In 2020, command training exercises were held with the Chiefs of the Civil Defense Services Headquarters of Ararat province. By the order of the Minister of Emergency Situations, the regional rescue department studied with the representatives of the urban communities and urban development department of Regional Administration, clarified the population reservation calculations to the defense structures, registered the existing problems and took the cleaning actions of the basements. The Minister of Emergency Situations Andranik Piloyan assigned to pay maximum attention to the warning, evacuation and shelter actions of the population, to eliminate the shortcomings.
Representatives of the Governor of Ararat province, representatives of the “National Center for Technical Security” SNCO, the Fire and Technical Safety Investigation Department and the Department of Urban Development of the Ararat Regional Administration also made speeches during the session. The Minister urged to take practical steps, to be consistent in order to be able to register positive changes in the field of civil defense.
