The Kapan-Chakaten road was closed at night

November 11,2021 13:30

Early in the morning of November 11, at 5:30 AM after the night shift was over, Karen Grigoryan was prohibited from traveling to Chakaten by the military police. In the morning he was going home to Chakaten, but the military police officers forbade him to move, noting that the road was closed. “I was returning home from work. The military police stopped the car on the Kapan-Chakaten road, telling me to go back. They said that the Azerbaijanis blocked the road. I asked the reason, and they said they were doing construction work. It is not clear when it will be open,” said Karen Grigoryan.

It should be noted that besides Chakaten, there are 4 other villages in that direction: Shikahogh, Srashen, Tsav, and Nerkin Hand. According to Grigoryan, the construction of an alternative road has been left unfinished, and if the road is not opened, they will have to reach Chakaten through Meghri. “You have to reach Tsav through Meghri and then go down to those villages. In fact, I have to travel about 90-100 km instead of 10 km,” said Karen. Since Wednesday night, the Azerbaijanis have set up customs checkpoints on the Goris-Vorotan highway.

P.S. The material was ready for publication when we were informed that the road was open and citizens could move freely. There were no traces of construction works on the road.
