Former Secretary of the Artsakh Security Council and former Commander of the Defense Army Samvel Babayan said in an interview at the Civilnet pavilion, “During the whole war, we heard many times that we could not understand where our front line was. They were lying somewhere every day. Nobody knew. The General Staff, which should have known where the line was, gave the order. There is nothing- neither the command nor the front line. Later they sat down, started making orders with maps, and putting them in the papers. It seems to them that they lied with it. It was the issue of the commission (meaning the NA commission of inquiry investigating the circumstances of the 44-day war- N.B.), they sat for months and prepared the papers. They think that I do not know where they did it.”
During the 44-day war, the chief of the RA General Staff was Onik Gasparyan, and he was one of the leaders of the war. Aravot talked about Samvel Babayan’s scandalous statement with Vladimir Poghosyan, advisor to the former Chief of the General Staff of the RA Armed Forces Onik Gasparyan and advisor to the RA President on security affairs during the First Artsakh War.

“And this is the most probable scenario. Look at the “attack” on the Artsakh army and the RA Armed Forces in recent days. Moreover, work has started that is supposed to divide the population of Armenia and Artsakh with the idea of the plan, moreover, this part of the program has been assigned to Roman Baghdasaryan, and the “attack” on the General Staff is carried out by Samvel Babayan.”
In his opinion, “Before making concessions to Azerbaijan, Turkey and Russia, the government launched an operation to destroy society, killing the faith in its own army, spreading hatred towards Artsakh, and blackening the names of all those who will never allow the state to be sold. This is a deliberate and dangerous operation. The government needs to do everything to correct itself, as they say, to sterilize itself and blame the generals of Armenia and Artsakh, who did everything to save the country.”
