“Our efforts to improve our city will and must continue”: Elen Asatryan

Dear Friends and Supporters,

Thank you! Your support and belief in me was the fuel of our campaign. Without it we would not have been able to knock on all the doors, call all the voters, talk to all our neighbors and businesses and share with them our belief that Glendale deserves better.

Election Day is over. But our efforts to improve our city will and must continue. The numbers are too close separating the top four. There are still a significant number of ballots to be counted and we are told that we won’t know the final outcome until the end of this month, if not later.

We ran a historic campaign connecting with the diverse communities that make up our Jewel City. I am so grateful to have met so many amazing people from all walks of life who love Glendale. I heard their struggles – rising rents and utilities, speeding and pedestrian safety, lack of green spaces, environmental justice and public health concerns, cutting through red tape at city hall and helping small businesses grow and succeed, along with so many others. Many of these were the reasons I decided to run.

Regardless of the final outcome, we’ll continue working together to build a city that works for all of us, a city hall that is empathetic towards its residents and small businesses and proactive in tackling the many challenges we face. I worked on these issues before and we’ll continue to work on them – together – still. This campaign was never about me, but the people and small businesses that make up our Jewel City.

Thank you to all the candidates who had the courage to step forward and bring their ideas to the table.

It is difficult to find the words to adequately express how immensely grateful I am for all those who believed, supported, and contributed. A very special thank you to my campaign manager Melanie Ohanian and the passionate young interns, students, and residents who volunteered. All of you inspire me. However the ballot count ultimately turns out – you’re all winners because you saw something broken and you stepped up to fix it.

I look forward to our collective work ahead in building bridges and working towards making Glendale the best city to live, work and play in.
Onward and upward,

Elen Asatryan
