“We no longer have the right to lose an inch of land in Artsakh and on the borders of Armenia. I know the village head of Aghavno. He is a devoted person. It is impossible to break him. These people came from Syria to take part in the 2016 hostilities. Being an Armenian population clinging to the ground is a very important resource. And Azerbaijan has repeatedly violated the November 9 agreement, according to which Berdzor should be emptied only after the construction of a new road. If there are state-centered forces here, I think the issue will not arise,” said military expert David Jamalyan, referring to reports that the Armenian government is going to leave Berdzor and surrounding villages under Azerbaijani control in July.
He mentioned, “And if a force majeure situation is created and this government is here, and Azerbaijan raises such an issue, then the issue of Artsakh’s subjectivity should be pushed to the forefront. Artsakh must say its special word: we no longer have land to give up. I understand that it is a difficult issue, but I also feel that there is a determination to fight. We have allies, and such a prospect, the loss of Berdzor, will not affect Russia. We have no right to lose Berdzor and Aghavno.”
David Jamalyan stressed that since Azerbaijan has repeatedly violated the November 9 agreements, the Armenian and Artsakh authorities have any tools to defend themselves at their disposal, but not in the case of the current Armenian government.
