In a conversation with Aravot, Civil Contract MP Hovik Aghazaryan spoke about the Artsakh issue and Pashinyan’s policy, saying that our country is physically weak and we can not resist the Turkish-Azerbaijani tandem, but we also have other advantages. For example, Nikol Pashinyan, if we use all our diplomatic levers correctly, we will succeed.
To the question of if he really believes that Nikol Pashinyan is the figure who can win in the diplomatic sphere, especially since our Foreign Minister is a person who has nothing to do with diplomacy, and a number of ambassadors were appointed who were members of the Civil Contract and members of the team, that is, what potential do you hope for, Aghazaryan answered, “Most of the people in the diplomatic circle were opportunists because they enjoyed it over time.
When we go somewhere, you say we are on a voyage, but over time, enjoying all the opportunities, going to France, America, etc., when Artsakh was leaving the negotiation process at that time, they did not dare to express an opinion. Now they slam doors, leave, and run away from the battlefield. It’s ok, it is better to be an ambassador to the team, weak with a little experience, less, but to speak honestly about this delicate national issue than talking to the other person.

What do we say to the world, we say, dear brother, we have no problem in the territorial sense of Azerbaijan, but the people of Artsakh are a part of our people, we can not remain indifferent, what do you say? Then you give the world a chance to say, Aliyev, brother, these people do not want anything from you, they do not have a land claim related to your territory, let’s sit down and talk, see what we can do to these people. Should we go and torture them all? Give them independence, give them freedom. Let’s sit down and talk. The conversation is already coming and going, there is no need for great diplomacy here. And Nikol Pashinyan’s advantage is the very high level of sincerity and openness.”
In response to the question about how Aliyev called Nikol Pashinyan a “clown” and sat at the negotiating table with him with that attitude, and doesn’t he think that there can be no high-level diplomatic conversation, Aghazaryan answered that it is not so, because Aliyev and Pashinyan are not the only ones around the table, there are external forces.
“The whole world knows what Nikol Pashinyan means to the Armenian people and the whole world knows what Aliyev means to the Azerbaijanis. The number of guns and Bayraktars alone does not determine whether you feel good as a citizen. The inner strength comes from somewhere else.”
