“I don’t know what Samvel Babayan talked about. I saw him once in these nine months. I went to his meeting with the citizens, which 35 people attended. Babayan presented his vision; I heard it”, former Minister of State of Artsakh Ruben Vardanyan said at the press conference of the members of the Artsakh Security and Development Front public movement, answering a journalist’s question.
In his interview, when asked what the scenario is regarding Ruben Vardanyan, Babayan said: the discussion also happened with Vardanyan. What is the talk about?
Vardanyan said that they are in discussions with the President of Artsakh, and the representatives of the President’s party participate in the discussions of the movement. To whether Vardanyan is involved in the political consultations announced by Arayik Harutyunyan, Vardanyan answered: we always work with normal dialogue. “Consultations related to what? No, not to the position, because we are talking about how we will save Artsakh, what needs to be done for Artsakh to become strong.” We are not talking about positions.”
The other day, Samvel Babayan called a rally in Artsakh. At the rally, a demand was made to appoint Babayan as Artsakh State Minister with broad powers. President Harutyunyan also agreed to start political consultations. The press service of Samvel Babayan informed that the meeting between the President of Artsakh and Babayan took place. “The public demand to appoint Babayan as State Minister was not discussed. It was proposed to “join another amorphous consultative collegial body.”
