“Turkey is also interested in improving relations with Iran based on its current conditions”

According to the expert of Iran Emma Begijanyan, the fact that Iran announces that it supports the negotiations between Armenia and Azerbaijan is more of a diplomatic compliment.

“I can call it more of a diplomatic compliment. The relations between Iran and Azerbaijan have softened, so that’s what they are talking about, although we should not look for any message in it. Iran is always friendly and in favor of resolving issues through negotiations,” answered Iranist Emma Begijanyan to the question of “Aravot” What message is Iran sending by saying that it supports the negotiations between Armenia and Azerbaijan?

To remind you, a few days ago, the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Nasser Kanaani, announced that Iran supports the new round of negotiations between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

Emma Begijanyan reminded that Iran has declared that changing the borders of Armenia is their red line. “Speaking in the vernacular, Azerbaijan became very cocky, as if it can do anything, raise its voice against Iran; Israel also supports it, and Turkey to a certain extent. But Iran showed that it would not back from its demands, and Aliyev took a step back and started friendly relations. And Iran, if Aliyev softens, they go ahead of it, but that doesn’t mean anything.”

When Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan announced that the so-called the “Zangezur Corridor” was a problem not with Armenia but with Iran, we saw Iran’s solid and clear reaction. Has anything changed in this regard now? , Emma Begijanyan answered. “Since Erdoğan had many security and economic problems, Azerbaijan’s retreat is due to this. Azerbaijan is not an independent country; it is a province of Turkey, an annex of Turkey. Turkey is also interested in improving relations with Iran based on its current conditions. That’s why Turkey kept silent. Turkey has remained silent due to its internal problems; on the other hand, it knows that it is already clear to both sides that Iran will not make concessions. Iran’s only problem is Armenia. According to the analysis of their press, there is the opinion that maybe Armenia will take such a step without informing Iran; they will face the fact. But I don’t think it will be like that because recently Armenia has emphasized that this corridor will not happen.”
