Meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Armenia and Latvia

On September 19, in New York, within the framework of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan had a meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia Krisianis Karins.

Security and stability issues in the South Caucasus were touched upon during the meeting. Minister Mirzoyan briefed on the details of the large-scale aggression unleashed by Azerbaijan against the people of Nagorno-Karabakh in the morning of the same day. Ararat Mirzoyan emphasized that this and the previous actions of Azerbaijan are clearly aimed at subjecting Nagorno Karabakh to ethnic cleansing.

Ararat Mirzoyan emphasized the urgency of undertaking clear and unambiguous actions by international partners, including the EU, in order to prevent mass atrocities by Azerbaijan.

Referring to the issues on the bilateral agenda between Armenia and Latvia, the parties expressed confidence in the development of the political agenda and the prospects for expanding cooperation within the EU.
