If Azerbaijan violates the norms of international law, then it should be accountable for it: Anna Mkrtchyan

The deputy of the RA NA With Honor Faction, the Head of the Armenia-Finland Friendship Group Anna Mkrtchyan discussed the current situation created around Armenia, the existing challenges and problems with the members of the delegation of Finland to the OSCE PA led by the Head of the Finland-Armenia Friendship Group Vilhelm Junnila. The meeting took place on November 19 within the framework of the OSCE PA Autumn Meeting being held in Yerevan.

Anna Mkrtchyan touched upon the problems of depopulation of Nagorno Karabakh Armenians because of the Azerbaijani aggression, ethnic cleansing, noting that Azerbaijan continues threatening. Addressing her colleagues of the international structure, the MP underlined that the approaches towards Azerbaijan is necessary to make stricter, as if Azerbaijan violates the norms of the international law, the it should be accountable for it.

According to the Head of the Armenia-Finland Friendship Group, we should not be satisfied with merely statements, as such statements do not stop the steps taken by aggressor Azerbaijan. She stressed the necessity of imposing sanctions on Azerbaijan. “The international community should, particularly, ensure our citizens’ right to life and freedom of movement within the framework of humanitarian law,” Anna Mkrtchyan said.

The MP also referred to the inner-political issues of Armenia. According to her, there are persons deprived of their freedom for political views in Armenia.

The sides also emphasized the inter-parliamentary cooperation, underlining the deepening and expansion between the Friendship Groups.

During the meeting the sides talked about the situation of Syunik at this moment.
