At the Ad Hoc Working Group on Mandate Implementation Review under the UN80 initiative, Permanent Representative of Armenia to the UN, H.E. Paruyr Hovhannisyan, addressed the review of the Secretary-General’s reporting portfolio and the Secretariat’s recommendations for improving reporting mandates.
Ambassador Hovhannisyan reaffirmed Armenia’s commitment to enhancing the efficiency of the United Nations while preserving the quality, impartiality, objectivity and evidence-based nature of Secretary-General’s reports, fully aligned with the mandates established by Member States.
He also stressed that effective mandate implementation begins with effective mandate creation. Efficiency should be reflected not only in the mandates, but also in the way the Organization conducts its work. This means promoting concise and accessible documentation, more disciplined drafting, and negotiations focused on substantive issues rather than repetitive textual amendments, enabling the Organization to make better use of its limited time and resources and deliver more effectively on the mandates entrusted to it by Member States.
