The Parliament debated the issue of electing the Chair of the RA NA Standing Committee on Economic Affairs at the sitting on August 14.
The Head of the RA NA Civil Contract Faction Arusyak Manavazyan informed that Babken Tunyan was nominated for the position of the Committee Chair.
The candidate’s biographical data and work experience were presented by the deputy of the NA Civil Contract Faction Lilit Minasyan.
Babken Tunyan thanked the Faction for nominating him for that position.

According to the candidate, the Standing Committee on Economic Affairs was one of the most burdened ones. Out of about 2300 bills adopted during the 8th convocation of the National Assembly, 563 fell within the remit of the Standing Committee on Economic Affairs. In parallel, the Committee held 130 regular and extraordinary sittings, as well as 254 open and closed work debates. Separate meetings were held with numerous businessmen and expert circles, parliamentary hearings were organized, as well as an attempt was made to inform the public about the changes being made through briefings and press conferences. According to Babken Tunyan, over the past 8 years, they have been able to ensure transparent and effective work with their partners, which will continue this time as well.
Outlining the upcoming tasks, the candidate emphasized the importance of continuously enriching the analytical capabilities of the National Assembly, the need to create a business response group in the parliament, and the post-legislative monitoring process.
