Look for the Man

April 17,2012 13:13

When the French advise to look for the woman (cherchez la femme), they mean the following – sometimes the reasons for men’s attitude remain foggy and in that case, the logic of their actions can be explained by the women who seem not to be in the spotlight of the events at first glance, but they do their black or “white” deeds from the backstage. Thus, it is a typical feudal phrase, when men were active in the social life and women “pestered” them as wives or mistresses.

In our enlightened era everything is quite the opposite and in Armenia, in particular, one should say look for the man, because women are in the spotlight and men play the role of those who pester.

Check it out yourselves. In 1990, women were those who beat up late Hrant Voskanyan, the Chairman of the Supreme Council. Because he, according to those women, was a “Turk” and a “traitor.” On September 25, 1996, in the forefront of those who attacked the Speaker and the Deputy Speaker of the parliament were women, who thought that this time Ter-Petrossian was a “Turk” and a “traitor.” Now who stands in the forefront of the protesters during the rallies of the Armenian National Congress (ANC) and who shouts louder than others “Serzhik, go away,” “Levon, the President.” Certainly, women, the “APCs,” as they are usually called. There is no denying that it would be unjust to say that sending women as shock troops is only the opposition’s work style. For example, when Aravot writes about some corrupted school principal (and by the way, election fraudster), women come to our office and make a fuss. Or once a businessman – we had written negative things about his production – sent a few dozens of his female workers to Aravot “to rally” here. Probably the given businessman perceived “vox populi” in this manner. Now another businessman sends respective women – the so-called “Clara Khachikovnas,” in the worldview of Bangladesh – to impede his opposition rival’s election campaign.

In a nutshell, women are more emotional as a rule and men use that. I even know a woman who is Robert Kocharyan’s fan and strongly objects in her comments on our website, when any negative word is written about the second president. The woman’s soul is really mysterious.
