“Let that specific political force and its active supporters on Facebook answer that question why their leader served the Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) interests during the whole election campaign,” political scientist Suren Surenyants asked that question during a press conference today.
Shortly afterwards, during a conversation with us, he went into detail, “He made very wrong political analyses, despite his unique talent. He overestimated the factor of our governmental controversies and he tried to crack the government from inside, supporting the second party of the government, which, in his opinion, would have brought about very active post-election processes. Ter-Petrossian’s political calculation was very skillfully understood by Serzh Sargsyan and he took the way of forming an absolutely monolithic government.” In the political scientist’s opinion, it is probable that the PAP will nominate former Minister of Foreign Affairs Vartan Oskanian a candidate for president, but it is not the best
choice, “He can even put forward interesting ideas, but I never deem him the favorite.”
The political scientist is convinced that the candidacies of both Robert Kocharyan and V. Oskanian will decrease the PAP rating.
