June 25,2012 16:38

Today during a plenary meeting of the PACE summer session, Naira Zohrabyan, a representative of the Armenian delegation, asked Sali Berisha, the Albanian Prime Minister whose country has taken over the presidency of the CE Committee of  Ministers, “Serbia had not recognized Kosovo’s independence, nonetheless, it has had a dialogue with Kosovo. What steps will you take during Albania’s presidency in order that Azerbaijan commences a direct dialogue with Nagorno-Karabakh government?”

In response to this question, the Albanian Prime Minister stated that they supported the Committee of Ministers’ stance on that issue and the CE decisions to assist in building democratic institutions in the region.

Talking about this answer of the Albanian Prime Minister during a conversation with www.aravot.am, Naira Zohrabyan said, “I want to remind the Albanian Prime Minister that the CE Committee of Ministers has no right to have any stance on the Karabakh issue.” According to Zohrabyan, either such an answer to the question of the Armenian MP that was prompted by the prompters sitting next to him was a result of not understanding the

question correctly, because the interpreter interpreted the question incorrectly whether Albania was not going to recognize the independence of Karabakh, or in order to avoid the question asked by the interpreter incorrectly, he referred to a non-existent “decision” of the Committee of Ministers.

By the way, today there will be so-called open debates at the plenary meeting of the PACE, in the framework of which a lot of MPs of the Azerbaijani delegation have put their names on the waiting list to make speeches.
