“Samvel Balasanyan Wanted to Prove to Gagik Tsarukyan That He Was Loyal to Him,” Karine Achemyan Says

September 11,2012 15:46

“Samvel Balasanyan just wanted to prove to Gagik Tsarukyan, the leader of his party, and to reassert once again that he was loyal to him,” Karine Achemyan, a Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) MP, commented in this manner on the claim of Samvel Balasanyan, a Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) member, who had been elected the mayor of Gyumri that he had been announced by the PAP and Gagik Tsarukyan.

Let us remind that before that President Serzh Sargsyan had assured during a briefing with journalists that he had announced Samvel Balasanyan’s candidacy.

In this regard, Karine Achemyan assured that Samvel Balasanyan just couldn’t deny the president’s participation and contribution to that affair, since he had confirmed himself that he had had a meeting with the president before that and talked with him about that. As for the assessment of Levon Zurabyan, the Armenian National Congress (ANC) coordinator, that it “was a slap in the face for Serzh Sargsyan,” according to Karine Achemyan, “It is an extreme approach. We don’t see anything unusual in Samvel Balasanyan’s words. And it is undeniable that the RPA has contributed to Samvel Balasanyan’s becoming the mayor.”
