November 30,2012 17:03

“Everyone decides himself; that is his right,” Grigor Harutyunyan, the secretary of the People’s Party of Armenia (PPA), said during a conversation with www.aravot.am in response to a question what he thought about the fact that their fellow party member had announced his candidacy for MP in no. 1 electoral district.

Let us remind that in the additional parliamentary election to take place on Sunday, besides Robert Sargsyan, a member of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), and Stepan Safaryan, a representative of the Heritage Party, there is another candidate in no. 1 electoral district, PPA member Eduard Petrosyan who has nominated himself. Let us also remind that he PPA stated about supporting Styopa Safaryan.

Eduard Petrosan confirmed during a conversation with Radio Liberty that he had no job, he had been in prison for a crime related to money, and all that notwithstanding, he said he had

good chances to win. “I nominated myself as a man, as an ordinary, common Armenian citizen. I haven’t told the PPA or the Congress about my intentions. I don’t care much about the existence of the PPA,” Petrosyan said.

“With regard to those specific candidates, we gave preference to Stepan Safaryan, appreciating his work in the National Assembly, his activities and abilities, I think he is a more appropriate candidate for the parliament,” Mr. Harutyunyan explained the PPA position in this manner.
