“The wheel of the history started turning in the right direction.”

April 22,2015 13:04

Republican MP Margaret Essayan is certain that the time has come to correct the mistakes of history.

– “During the last session of Parliament debated on the text concerning the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, and so far it has not yet been voted on. It was assumed that the vote will be by a special session until April 24. It is necessary to note that an extraordinary amount of Deputies signatures must be gathered to convene a session but the Deputies members are on different business trips. Do not you think that this is Armenia’s a shame, especially since this was the anniversary of the genocide and after the Vatican’s powerful response as well as the European Parliament reaffirmation? Do you know what the most important trips are that your colleagues take part in, when they are subordinated to the vote?”

– “There is a popular saying, “Don`t say hop until not jump”.  In fact, now I have to remind these words to all those who are quick to make assumptions, to make up non-existent things and to look for the famous animal in a dark room. If there was a little patience, your question wound not raise. Who or what business trips Deputies are going to, only the head of the Parliament is to decide and he always makes wise decisions. The special session will be on April 21, Tuesday, until April 24, we actually will manage to receive the votes, so the job is done at a slow speed. Turkey has not given up its program of festivities on April 24 concerning the battle of Gallipoli. These days are being specified the superpowers approaches: Turkey`s and Armenia`s upcoming events”.

-“Are the government’s expectations justified?”

-“What we expect from all over the world, progressive part of humanity, why not, our neighbors, is not just the expectation and demand of the government, but also our entire nation`s: Armenians. It is very clear and visible that wheel of the history started turning in the right direction, and the rotation cannot be stopped, and in this way, progressive part of humanity, all the international structures are with, being  well aware that the recognition and condemnation of the Genocide is not the problem  of only Armenian people, realizing that if today, on the 100  anniversary, the world  would not rise up and reject the atrocities, Genocides, then the world will be doomed to be in constant danger and destruction. Look what is happening in Syria, what the same “Islamic state`s” structure terrorists are doing. As for Turkey, you know, I am sorry for the bright people that live in the country, the people that live under the yoke of such unschooled authority: to face its own history, their own ancestors crimes and be able to go ahead one need to be a little less Turk. Gallipoli is celebrated or not, it is already of no importance as  we have the Pope, the European Parliament, Overview, European francophone countries, more than a dozen countries, 45 US states, Chile and long awaited recognition and convictions. Turkish chieftains’ statements really are very meager after all.”

– “President of Turkey reacted furiously especially after the Pope’s statements, he reserved the right to give advice to the Pope. Turkey threatened us to deport hundreds of thousands of Armenians living illegally in his country. Should not we be bothered by all this? Why is Armenia a country that a large part of our compatriots have chosen to live and work in a hostile country?”

-“If you follow the process, the Pope stated that he does not intend to bring the discussion stage: powerful blow, I assure you. And why so many Armenians are living or working in Turkey today, it’s a very broad question, but let me answer in short that we are not only in Turkey, we are everywhere, and this is one of the consequences of the Genocide. Turkey, I think Erdogan is in panic as he is very well aware that the Turkish diplomacy`s famous trick are outdated and not useful, he will still have a variety of items, but I did my part, I would like to urge him again and again, he will still try to make different comments but I want to exhort him not to try to forget that in the last century at the Ottoman Empire there was a Genocide of Christians, especially the Armenians. When Erdogan or his official denies the genocide, they deny not the Armenians or condemn the international organizations, but also their ancestors.

Turkey will continue its claim to a membership the EU after the recent events. How should behave Europe towards Turkey, especially in the relation of EU membership? Armenia-EU relations are entering an active phase again. Should the issue remain in the hands of EU as a blackjack quoad Turkey?”

-“Many of our European partners have long been saying that unless Turkey faces its history, it cannot have aspirations to join the EU or to communicate with EU countries as   equal. It is clear but what refers to the issue of being a blackjack, I think your observation is highly offensive to our past, our history and our present, because our people, the Republic of Armenia is given a mission, and that mission is to correct the history mistakes and to move forward. I am sure you are aware of  the statements were made in Germany, neither the President nor the Chancellor’s are  going to be present in Turkey and Britain urges Turks to be restrained in their statements, not to mention the Pope political and spiritual position. I am convinced that nothing happens by chance on this planet, and the historical events and developments from some moment became normal, independent of oil and the dollar odor.”

PS Note, however, that the European countries will not be present at the 100th anniversary celebration at the presidential level.
