Regarding the insults voiced by Meghri City Mayor. “What should be my response to the perpetrators?”

November 20,2015 14:00

As we have already informed, Meghri City Mayor, Arshavir Hovhannisyan, had made offensive remarks to the observers and particularly to the “Transparency International” Anti-Corruption Center for making an alarm that the mayor had announced during one of the events sating, “he is to decide who will vote how,” and under this threat, some observers have refused from the observation mission. Aravot.am asked the Deputy Director for the “Transparency International” Anti-Corruption Center, Sona Ayvazyan, to estimate the mayor’s behavior.

She replied, “He has naively expressed his position, the Governor’s attitude. He just has directly told what perhaps other people would not say. He has said the way they think and the way they behave, threating people, saying that it is the governor to decide, he has honestly given all of it in our hands. No need to blame him as everyone thinks so and does so, just as a straightforward person, he opened up on the emotional background and expressed what he thinks and the factors that actually operate.”

We asked about how they respond to the insults, whether they will be consistent so that the mayor would bear responsibility for it, Sona Ayvazyan replied, “I do not know what to say, what to respond to the perpetrators. He has said it, there were people who have heard it, they personally have told it and the representatives of our organization have heard him saying it. We have not stated it in his back, moreover, if I’m not mistaken, there is a recording.”
