The fact that corruption and embezzlement of public funds are serious challenges to our security was proved during the 4-day war. Everyone agrees with it. But I do not agree with extreme suggestions that often sound for purely populist purposes. The matter is about the sinister nationalization and dispossession of the kulaks. If someone gathers a group of militants and attack a house of an oligarch, collect the gold staff and say, this is my contribution to the Armenian army, then it will be just what the enemy wants: internal conflict and brawl. Not to speak about what part of this jewelry will remain in the pockets of the assaulters.
I have no doubt that soon hostilities will resume and we if we cannot become a soldier participating in these activities we can be a state soldier and today the most important feature of the state strength is the internal stability. In this sense, any even symbolic act that is directed against any citizen of Armenia irrespective of his position and the size of the property, I view it as an infringement against my country. This is also what I think about the threat of such violence, no matter behind what “noble purposes” it is masked.
I see the solution to today’s problems not in a dispossession of the kulaks but to putting the state mechanisms into action. The oligarchs must fully pay their taxes, the state officials shall not steal the budget, the government shall not make decisions, which help them to “pass” the state (taxpayers’) money to each other. It would be good if the oligarchs voluntarily declare that they transfer a certain amount (not less than one million dollars, otherwise it would be ridiculous) to the Defense Ministry.
Our society appreciates every positive step by anyone if only it is sincere and not a show-off. And in the end, one small suggestion. Dear selficists (the author of this word seems to be a reporter Hovik Afyan –A.A.), you want to drink beer in the central square of Stepanakert, very well (to the point, I also want, simply, I do not have time) but do not present it as a “combat mission”, enjoy your leisure time without “camouflage”.
