Republican Party of Armenia does not see Hovik Abrahamyan off

September 15,2016 13:12

Why are the Republicans seeing the former Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan off so reluctantly without trying to express at least any positive view about his tenure, in response to the question of Aravot.am, the RA NA Deputy Speaker Eduard Sharmazanov said that he does not share the remark that the Republicans see Hovik Abrahamyan off reluctantly or are seeing off in general, “Hovik Abrahamyan remains active in the politics.  Mr. Abrahamyan is the Deputy Chairman of our party and as the President of the Republic said, he will have a significant role during the parliamentary elections.  In my subjective opinion, Mr. Abrahamyan has things to do both in the party and in the politics.”

“Hovik Abrahamyan has not brought the government from his father’s house, it was the government of the “Republican” party,” – said Eduard Sharmazanov in an interview with the reporters, which gave rise to various interpretations. He argues that in this interview, he spoke very positively about Hovik Abrahamyan and his government, which was presented “obviously negative.”  He has also made a disputable expression in the following context, “Hovik Abrahamyan’s government has made numerous positive steps and Abrahamyan’s government’s political responsibility was the Republican Party.  If there are advantages, it was also attributed to the Republican Party, if there were flaws, they should not be cast only on Hovik Abrahamyan’s government.  It is one single organism.  The Republican Party also bears the full responsibility.”  Our interlocutor estimates the activities of both Tigran Sargsyan’s and Hovik Abrahamyan’ government positive, citing the words of the late Prime Minister Andranik Margaryan, “After the work, people will remember what was not done.  Very few people remember what is done.”

Eduard Sharmazanov opines that Hovik Abrahamyan’s government was able to mitigate the available negative risks during 2.5 years and this is worthy of appreciation.  Allegedly, Eduard Sharmazanov also states that during the term of Hovik Abrahamyan as a Prime Minister, the NA-government connection was at an unprecedented high level, there was no obstacle for working with the government, “Moreover, our partners in the government headed by the Prime Minister are always ready to listen to the signals coming from the parliament.”

Eduard Sharmazanov notes that with his resignation, Hovik Abrahamyan also introduces a new culture, a culture of not clutching to the position and enabling the new prime minister and the government to open a new page for future reforms, “Mr. Abrahamyan has addressed the reasons for his resignation in his speech.  Each one has its own period.  The period of Hovik Abrahamyan’s government is over.  This government is facing other problems, I think, this government worked quite well to minimizing the available problems”.  He wishes good luck to Karen Karapetyan’s government, which he also consider the government of RPA, “There will be a program and I would urge everyone to support the new government as the government’s success will be the success of all of us.”
