On December 10, in Paris, Edward Nalbandian, Foreign Minister of Armenia, held annual consultations with the Ambassadors and Permanent Representatives of Armenia accredited to the European countries and international organizations.
Edward Nalbandian discussed with the Ambassadors the process of implementation of instructions given by the President of Armenia. The activities carried out throughout 2016 were summed up; Minister Nalbandian gave relevant instructions on the steps to be taken during the upcoming year.
In the course of consultations a special attention was paid to the economic segment of the activity of diplomatic missions, as well as to the steps undertaken towards promoting investments, developing trade and economic relations with the partner countries. The Ambassadors presented their activities in that direction, achieved results and planned steps.
The discussions at the meeting were focused on the joint efforts of Armenia and the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chair countries aimed at overcoming the consequences of Azerbaijan’s April aggression against Artsakh, creating conducive conditions for the advancement of negotiation process. Within this context, the provisions of the statement of Foreign Ministers of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chair countries were highlighted.

During the meeting the process of international recognition and condemnation of the Armenian Genocide was touched upon.
The agenda of consultations also focused on the issues related to collaboration within international organizations, the outcome of the Summit of the International Organization of la Francophonie and the OSCE Ministerial Council in Hamburg, the recent developments in Armenia’s foreign policy.
The participants of the meeting exchanged views on the enhancement of relations with the European countries and the process of negotiations with the European Union over the new framework agreement. Issues related to cooperation within the framework of other European institutions, the activities of the Parliamentary Assemblies of international organizations were discussed.
At the meeting the importance of developing political dialogue with the European countries was highlighted, the activities of Embassies aimed at the development of interparliamentary ties and expansion of decentralized cooperation, as well as their work in the information field and with the NGOs of host countries were touched upon.
The heads of diplomatic missions of Armenia in Europe reported to the Foreign Minister on the ongoing processes in their host countries and international organizations, and presented the steps being undertaken towards the development of relations with Armenia.
During consultations participants touched upon the ongoing processes in the Middle East, and within this context discussed the issues of providing support to the Syrian Armenians.
The participants reflected on a number of urgent regional and international issues and Armenia’s approaches to their settlement.
