Deputy of the “Yelq” faction Hayk Konjoryan asked the candidate for Prime Minister, Nikol Pashinyan, about foreign policy. Pashinyan said that there are many warnings that the government has failed in some foreign policy agreement. “There were fears in the beginning that Armenian-Russian relations have completely failed. Now I can say that there has never been this high of a level of trust between Armenia and Russia. Then they began to blame us for going against Russia- if you go against Russia, then your relations with the West and with Europe will completely fail. Allow me to say that there has also never been this high of a level of trust with our European colleagues. We are waiting for a visit from high-ranking American officials. There will be negotiations and I trust that the visit will have a similar effect.”
The secret, according to Pashinyan, is legitimacy, which is fundamental in foreign policy.
He said that this doesn’t mean that all problems in foreign policy have been solved. Only one has been solved, and that is that we are seen as a colleague and that Armenia is honest with its colleagues. There are some minor things that we need to solve and discuss.”
