Public Relations in the Spotlight: Armenian PR Awards 2018 Winners Announced

December 22,2018 15:03

The Armenian PR Awards Ceremony is the most important event of the year in the sphere of public relations (PR). The PR Awards is organized by the Armenian PR Association scientific-informational NGO, with the support of the Armenian General Benevolent Union (AGBU) and Beeline.

The objective of the Armenian PR Awards is to acknowledge the achievements of the sphere of public relations, to develop and publicize the importance of good communications in Armenia and to facilitate the active role of PR specialists in political and social processes, as well as in public life.

The results of the PR Awards are based on diligent research. The Armenian PR Association research group conducts surveys among target groups (PR specialists, media representatives) and consistently monitors the activities of government agencies, as well as the work of state, political, and public officials.
“The culture of communication is developing in Armenia and the Awards have played a big role in this progress. Every year, we don’t just recognize the best programs and ideas; our research also allows us to take note of the problems and achievements in the field and acknowledge the challenges. The results are then summarized in a research article,” said Astghik Avetisyan, President of the Armenian PR Association, associate professor of the Yerevan State University Faculty of Journalism and current PhD candidate.

“AGBU Armenia recognizes the importance of developing the sphere of public relations in Armenia, especially considering the vital importance it has for creating a healthy public dialogue and guaranteeing the transparency of processes in the society. For this reason, we were very enthusiastic in hosting and supporting the Armenian PR Award Ceremony. We are happy that the initiative has taken on a pan-Armenian approach this year, based on the recommendation of AGBU, with two new categories: ‘Diaspora Media of the Year’ and ‘Woman of the Year,'” noted AGBU Armenia President and AGBU Central Board member Vasken Yacoubian.

“During 2018, we all bore witness to the importance of PR technologies and the right use of mass communication tools. In this modern world of social media and rapid information dissemination, public relations are of importance everywhere. Everyone – government structures, companies, non-profit organizations, the mass media – want to make good use of PR technologies. Beeline has been supporting the Armenian PR Awards from the very beginning and we have been working in this way to develop public relations in Armenia for three years already,” noted the CEO of Beeline in Armenia Andrey Pyatakhin.

The PR Awards research team used a quantitative study methodology to determine the top three contenders in each category, then the winner was selected by the professional committee through a secret ballot.

The professional committee for the Armenian PR Awards consists of the following individuals: Vazrik Bazil (renowned German communications specialist, lecturer, speechwriter), Talar Kazanjian (Executive Director, AGBU Armenia), Hrachoohi-Mary Boghosian (Professor, University of California in Los Angeles), Miro Khanzadian (American-Armenian PR specialist, founder of GlobalHye & Associates), Narine Hayrapetyan (Communications Manager, AGBU Armenia), Naira Nazaryan (PR Manager, Beeline Armenia), and Astghik Avetisyan (President of the Armenian PR Association, Director of PR and Communication Technology masters’ program at Yerevan State University Faculty of Journalism).
