Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) states the following:
• The constitutional order, the principle of separation and balance of power and the fundamental freedoms and rights of people are again endangered in the Republic of Armenia.
• We strongly condemn the unprecedented pressure by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on judicial system of RA.
• This practice will lead to irreversible damage to the principles of fair trial and the rule of law in the country.
• It deepens society’s disruption, destabilizes the atmosphere of public solidarity and gives a new rise to incitement to intolerance and hatred, which is fraught with unpredictable consequences.
In the current situation we call upon:
1. The Armenian people to refrain from taking part in dangerous and adventurous processes provoked by Nikol Pashinyan
2. Political parties, civil society institutions, and public figures to join in the condemnation and prevention of the processes directed to destruction of statehood.
3. The law enforcement system to ensure the normal functioning of the judicial power exclusively within the framework of the Constitution and the laws of the Republic of Armenia, to take measures against persons who create threats to the constitutionality regardless of their occupation.
4. The international community, diplomatic missions accredited in Armenia, to give a clear assessment of the attack on the constitution and the judiciary system by the Armenian authorities.
