Alen Simonyan makes offer to Prosperous Armenia and Bright Armenia: ‘You will either burn your bridges with the past so we can get rid of the Serzh Sargsyan and Kocharyan groups, or accept that you don’t know your place’

“What is taking place in Armenia and the National Assembly today is ridiculous. It is ridiculous because there are news outlets that receive money from someone who closed news outlets in Armenia, whom PACE referred to as a politburo, and who would make people political prisoners in Armenia. Then, they come to ask me about the PACE report, asking me how we will do this. This is absurd to me,” Vice Speaker of the National Assembly Alen Simonyan said during his speech at the extraordinary session of parliament.

The National Assembly is discussing the draft amendment to Chapter 7 of the Constitution, which will cease the practice of appointing individuals to the Constitutional Court.

Alen Simonyan said that someone who is accused of two crimes has established a group, which is calling upon people to speak to the media with humility. “It’s ridiculous. Those who were stealing from people until recently are standing near the walls of police stations and talking about democracy. It’s absurd. And you know the way that they’re talking, which leaves little room for people to believe them. Someone whose employees are the authors of the worst and most despicable articles and personal videos, whose employees reveal details about the private lives of politicians, is now talking about righteousness. They would call the judge and say, “If the owners need to change, then do it.” Now they say that this is obvious pressure on the judges, who decided upon custody as the precautionary method. The coordinators need to be pressured. You can’t go halfway in a revolution and say that you aren’t participating in the revolution, but you will actively observe it. Did something happen? Is there something you’re not pleased with? Come and talk to us, give us your suggestions.”

Alen Simonyan also made an offer to the opposition parties. “You will either make a political decision to burn your bridges with the past, stand by the revolution, and get rid of all the little groups that support Serzh Sargsyan, Robert Kocharyan, and their relatives, which are all trying to instill hatred in Armenia. Or, you will be honest and say that you don’t know your place in this building or in politics and allow people to label you that way. Don’t get upset when you see honest and pure people from My Step risking their lives, freedom, and fate so that we can have a fair parliament. The old world is dying, and it will take everything that doesn’t understand the new world with it.”
