Aznavour museum, hotel “Dvin”, accessible entrances: urban development council holds its regular meeting

The meeting of the urban development council adjunct to the Mayor of Yerevan was conducted by the chairman of the council Hayk Marutyan. The agenda of the meeting was comprised of 5 issues.

The members of the council rejected the project of the expansion of the “Dvin” hotel complex which supposed to have two new constructions in both sides of the building.
In relation to the suggestion of the reconstruction of the “Aznavour” center located near the Cascade complex the council made an alternative suggestion: to design a new building of the same volumes on the place of the building which will be convenient to the centre’s activity and will look in harmony with the surroundings.
The council also voted for the architectural design task for the block of flats to be constructed at 6/1 Alikhanyan brothers street. During the discussion Mayor Hayk Marutyan stressed that the city authorities adopted the principle to permit the construction of blocks of flats if they have an underground parking for at least 70-80% of flats. Accordingly, relevant changes are to be made in the architectural task of the 12-storey building and parking spaces will be increased.

The council also approved of the project of the permission for the construction of a block of flats at 15/1 G, Nzhdeh street in Shengavit. Instead of proposed 13 storeys the block will have 9 ones. The developer took the responsibility to improve the yard area creating a comfortable environment to serve the dwellers of surrounding building as well.
The issues of providing wheelchair access at the front entrance to the Municipality building were discussed as well and as result it was decided to that the architects will work out a new proposal.
