‘Do not provide any information on social media about soldiers and where they are serving’: Taron Hovhannisyan on security rules

September 29,2020 15:15

“I ask all social media users to not take pictures of or share anything that is not official, especially if it involves movement of military equipment, soldiers, or anything else involving military equipment. We should not take pictures or share anything,” Azerbaijani affairs specialist Taron Hovhannisyan warned during a press conference at Armenpress.

He thanked all the media outlets in Armenia because all of them are maintaining the security guidelines and only sharing official news.

He also gave some advice regarding informational security. “The Azerbaijani side is trying to spread misinformation. They are even creating multiple accounts. For example, if you come across a post that says “Give me your soldier’s information and I will get into contact with them,” leave the page immediately. Do not provide any information to these people regarding soldiers or where they are serving because they won’t give you any information; they will instead hurt the soldier and those serving with the soldier. Do not provide any information on social media about soldiers or where they are serving. No official agency will ask for information on soldiers.”

He also warned people not to contact soldiers, although it is not possible to do so to begin with. He said that this will put them and those serving with them in danger.
